Born Of Water (Baptism)

Hello friends! The following Bible Treasure deals with the subject of Water Baptism (Submerging Under A Pool Of Water in The Name of the Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Ghost)
This is a very important subject due to our Lord Jesus Christ's Words regarding it.

Matthew 28:18-20

18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

BIBLE 7 TREASURE

The Above Words Written In Matthew 28, Are Jesus Christ's Parting Words. These Were The Last Words He Spoke to His Apostles Before Going Back To God The Father. (We will look at Matthew 28 with more depth later in this study)
Jesus Commands His Apostles to teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded. 
This isn't the only time our Lord Jesus Christ Speaks about Baptism.

John 3:4-5

Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water  and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

In The Above Bible Verse we see The Words of our Lord Jesus Christ
He says "Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."
These Words let us know the importance of Both Baptisms. One is Baptism By Water and The Other Is Baptism By God's Holy Spirit (This is The Baptism That A Person Receives when He/She Truly Believes In Jesus Christ *Faith*)
 It is of crucial importance to Always Listen To Jesus Christ's Words, because He Wants The Best for us.


Water Baptism is a sign of Repentance and Faith In Jesus Christ and it is through Faith In Him that we receive God's Holy Spirit
This Makes Water Baptism A Very Precious Gift to the person who has Faith In Him. 
It's important to remember that water does not wash away our sins, only Jesus Christ's Blood may wash away our sins. We Receive Jesus Christ's Blood By Faith. 
Our Faith In Jesus Christ Is Shown through the act of Baptism and we experience a cleansing by following Jesus Christ In Baptism. 
Baptism Is like a Spiritual Signature or Sign Of Faith In Jesus Christ

I did not always listen to Jesus Christ's Words. There was a time when i didn't think water Baptism was important as long as i Believed In Jesus Christ.  
Back then i didn't know that a Christian should always Walk As He Walked, and i was missing out on God's Free Blessings that come as a result of Obedience.
The Word "Christian" means "Follower Of Christ."
Throughout my Pilgrimage as a Christian i learned how important Obedience To God Really Is; this obedience includes Baptism by water.
Let's see what The Word Of God Says regarding Baptism By Water.


Acts 2:36-42

36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

The Above Bible Passage shows us that Repentance comes before Baptism. 
It is for this reason that Baptism by the water is a sign of repentance and acceptance of our Lord Jesus Christ
Without repentance there is no Salvation. Repentance of our sins is an absolutely necessary step, and Baptism marks this repentance.
It is interesting to note the use of the words, "Three thousand souls" the word, "men" could have been used but instead we see the word "Souls" which implies the salvation aspect of Baptism In Jesus Christ's Name.

1 Peter 3:21

 21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

Baptism in The Name Of Jesus Christ is also a sign of Faith In God; this is a Great Blessing. We all find Favor From God Through Faith In Jesus Christ, and this Water Baptism is a Confession of our Faith In Jesus Christ Before God The Father and our fellow men as well. 
We Receive The Gift Of The Holy Spirit Through Faith in our Lord Jesus Christ (Baptism Of The Holy Spirit) 
Believing In Jesus Christ Is Important, but did you know that Confessing Him with others is just as important?  

Romans 10:9-10

9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Confessing with our mouths The Lord Jesus Christ Is an incredible blessing that we as Christians partake in, and it is also our duty as Believers of Jesus Christ To Share Him with others.

Mark 16:15-16

15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.


Sharing our Lord Jesus Christ with others is a constant Confession like the one written about in Romans 10.
Sharing our Lord Jesus Christ is also a constant Rain Of God's Holy Spirit upon ourselves and others (I will share my experience at the end of this page)

Acts 22:13-17

12 And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, having a good report of all the Jews which dwelt there,
 13 Came unto me, and stood, and said unto me, Brother Saul, receive thy sight. And the same hour I looked up upon him.
14 And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth.
15 For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.
16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.
17 And it came to pass, that, when I was come again to Jerusalem, even while I prayed in the temple, I was in a trance;

These words were spoken to Apostle Paul before he became an Apostle. Water Baptism was a requirement for him as well as every human who wishes to be saved.  
I don't think this means that someone who didn't know about Water Baptism but Believed In Jesus Christ isn't going to be saved. We are all judged based on what we do with what we have and what we know.
This of course means that we, who know better, should definitely get baptized and receive God's Free Gift Of The Holy Spirit! ^____^
Water Baptism is a sign of Repentance, Faith and of a New Birth (Born Of Water) In Jesus Christ


Romans 6:1-4

6 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 

The Act of Baptism symbolizes a death, a burial and a resurrection
A New Birth. 
When a baby is in the mother he/she's protected by an envelope of water and when the water breaks and the baby emerges and takes a breath he/she starts a new stage of life. 
Water Baptism symbolizes that a new stage of life has begun and we are a baby Christian after Baptism. God's Word Says that we grow In The Lord, that Jesus Nurtures us and that we're to desire the Sincere Milk Of The Word after Baptism.

Colossians 2:12

12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.


1 Corinthians 6:9-11

9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,
10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.


The Most Important Bible Verse regarding Water Baptism is the following

Matthew 3:13-16

13 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.
14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?
15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.
16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:
17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

Our Lord Jesus Christ Was Baptized. 
This is more than enough for us to see the great importance and necessity of Water Baptism. 
The Way Jesus Christ Was Baptized can also be seen on Matthew 3. It says, "when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water" This means Jesus Christ Submerged under the water. Jesus Showed us The Proper way To Be Baptized.

Baptism means to dip, immerse, to plunge underwater, to completely submerge. 
The word Baptism is found in ancient Greek texts and it's used in the context of dying clothes; the Greeks would submerge clothes under different colored-inks.
 
We, as followers of Jesus Christ, must do As Jesus Did, as much as we possibly can. 
Jesus Christ Was Baptized In The Jordan River (Remember this fact, we are going to be seeing a lot more of The Jordan River soon) but we aren't all able to do the same. If you are able, then don't miss out on this amazing experience!
Remember God Sees Everything!

We know our Lord Jesus Christ Did Not get Baptized to wash away His sins, because He Has Always Been Sinless. 
There are various reasons our Lord Jesus Christ Was Baptized, we are going to look at three reasons.

 
Reason#1 

Jesus Has Given us an example that we should walk as He Walked. He Was Baptized as an example for us to follow


Reason #2 

So that  we might experience what Jesus Experienced. 
When Jesus Was Baptized He began A Life Of Ministry; when a person Marries Jesus through Baptism they then too become a servant of The Lord and begin working for the Lord. 
Furthermore God Says, "This Is My Beloved Son"; we become adopted In God's Family.
God Says, "In Whom I Am Well Pleased"; He Becomes Well Pleased in us.
The Holy Spirit Came To Jesus, The Holy Spirit Comes to us


Reason#3 

Jesus was Baptized, in behalf of those who cannot be. We know this from the thief on the cross who was not baptized, but Accepted Jesus Christ the day of his death
This does not mean we shouldn't be baptized, remember God Knows everything. If we are able to Be Baptized we should do it.

Right after our Lord Jesus Christ Was Baptized He Was Also Baptized With God's Holy Spirit.

This Gift is also waiting To Be Poured on those who seek It!

We have seen a few Bible Verses from The New Testament regarding Water Baptism. But, did you know that there are various Figures of Water Baptism In The Old Testament?


Passing Through The Water 
(Figures Of Baptism In The Old Testament) 

Genesis 7

7 And the Lord said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.
2 Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female.
3 Of fowls also of the air by sevens, the male and the female; to keep seed alive upon the face of all the earth.
4 For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth.
5 And Noah did according unto all that the Lord commanded him.
6 And Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth.
7 And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him, into the ark, because of the waters of the flood.
8 Of clean beasts, and of beasts that are not clean, and of fowls, and of every thing that creepeth upon the earth,
9 There went in two and two unto Noah into the ark, the male and the female, as God had commanded Noah.
10 And it came to pass after seven days, that the waters of the flood were upon the earth.
11 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.
12 And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights.
13 In the selfsame day entered Noah, and Shem, and Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah's wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, into the ark;
14 They, and every beast after his kind, and all the cattle after their kind, and every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind, and every fowl after his kind, every bird of every sort.
15 And they went in unto Noah into the ark, two and two of all flesh, wherein is the breath of life.
16 And they that went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and the Lord shut him in.
17 And the flood was forty days upon the earth; and the waters increased, and bare up the ark, and it was lift up above the earth.
18 And the waters prevailed, and were increased greatly upon the earth; and the ark went upon the face of the waters.
19 And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills, that were under the whole heaven, were covered.
20 Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered.
21 And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man:
22 All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died.
23 And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark.
24 And the waters prevailed upon the earth an hundred and fifty days.


This is one of the earliest symbols of Baptism we find In God's Word. 
I must first mention the numerology we see here. 
We see God's Number 7 used various times here (I invite you to read: The Treasure Of The Rainbow and The Number 7) as well as the number 40, which represents Trials. The flood was forty days upon the earth. Israel wandered in the wilderness for forty years. Jesus Christ Fasted for forty days in the wilderness.  
Similarities like these are found All Throughout God's Word (The Holy Bible) These similarities are very intricate, and are located all throughout The Bible, like a circuit board. 
This lets us know that we are reading more than just a book; we are reading God's Living Word.

 
Back to the subject of Baptism! :D 
We see that Noah and 7 other people were saved by passing safely through the water on an "Ark"
Noah was saved because he Did As God Commanded him (Obedience)
 Apostle Peter speaks about Noah's Journey in the ark as a figure of Baptism.

1 Peter 3:17-22

17 For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.
18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;
20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.
21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
22 Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.

Noah isn't the only one who went on an ark and "Lived" by passing safely through the water. Baby Moses went through something very similar.

Exodus 2:1-10

2 And there went a man of the house of Levi, and took to wife a daughter of Levi.
2 And the woman conceived, and bare a son: and when she saw him that he was a goodly child, she hid him three months.
3 And when she could not longer hide him, she took for him an ark of bulrushes, and daubed it with slime and with pitch, and put the child therein; and she laid it in the flags by the river's brink.
4 And his sister stood afar off, to wit what would be done to him.
5 And the daughter of Pharaoh came down to wash herself at the river; and her maidens walked along by the river's side; and when she saw the ark among the flags, she sent her maid to fetch it.
6 And when she had opened it, she saw the child: and, behold, the babe wept. And she had compassion on him, and said, This is one of the Hebrews' children.
7 Then said his sister to Pharaoh's daughter, Shall I go and call to thee a nurse of the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for thee?
8 And Pharaoh's daughter said to her, Go. And the maid went and called the child's mother.
9 And Pharaoh's daughter said unto her, Take this child away, and nurse it for me, and I will give thee thy wages. And the women took the child, and nursed it.
10 And the child grew, and she brought him unto Pharaoh's daughter, and he became her son. And she called his name Moses: and she said, Because I drew him out of the water. 

Baby Moses "Lived" By passing through the water on an "Ark", just like Noah. These are symbols of Baptism. 
We pass through the water in Jesus Christ's Name, leaving our sins behind and finding New "Life" 
When Moses became an adult, he through God's Help guided God's Chose People Of Israel through the water (Red Sea) so they could "Live" Free.

Exodus 14:10-31

10 And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the Lord.
11 And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt?
12 Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.
13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.
14 The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.
15 And the Lord said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward:
16 But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.
17 And I, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them: and I will get me honour upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.
18 And the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I have gotten me honour upon Pharaoh, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.
19 And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them:
20 And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night.
21 And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.
22 And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.
23 And the Egyptians pursued, and went in after them to the midst of the sea, even all Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.
24 And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the Lord looked unto the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the host of the Egyptians,
25 And took off their chariot wheels, that they drave them heavily: so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel; for the Lord fighteth for them against the Egyptians.
26 And the Lord said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen.
27 And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the Lord overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.
28 And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them.
29 But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.
30 Thus the Lord saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore.
31 And Israel saw that great work which the Lord did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared the Lord, and believed the Lord, and his servant Moses.
 
There are various symbols on Exodus 14. 

Pharaoh and his army represent the devil and sin
Moses represents The Law and The Prophets. (He receives God's Law, The 10 Commandments Later, and He is also a Prophet Of God)
God's Chosen People of Israel are those who Believe In Jesus Christ (God) 
The "Red" Sea represents The Blood Of Jesus Christ and also represents Baptism by water

On Exodus 14 we see God Leading His Chosen People out of Pharaoh's captivity through Moses. 
Today, the devil has many people enslaved and God Is Leading us out of his captivity if we wish to be led into Freedom.

On Exodus 14 God's Chosen People were afraid of the Egyptians and said to Moses, "hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt? Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians?"
Today people don't believe they can break free from sin's captivity (the devil) they think it is easier to remain in sin than to break free, because they lack Faith In God. 


On Exodus 14 Moses says, "Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace."
Today, people are told the same thing Moses said
It is through Faith In Jesus Christ And Obedience To Him that we may see The Salvation Of The Lord, Breaking free from the devil's and sin's captivity. Moses represents God's Law, The 10 Commandments. Keeping God's Law keeps us free from sin's deadly hypnosis and captivity, in the same way that keeping our land's law keep us free from jail's captivity. 
 

On Exodus 14 Moses Hears God's Word and is Given A Commandment to keep "lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea."
Today we are also given Commandments by our Lord Jesus Christ. If we choose to be obedient like Moses was, we'll be set free!
The Red Sea then is parted by Moses' Obedience To God's Commandment, and God's Chosen People Pass safely through the water. Freedom awaits at the other side! 

 
The Parting of The Red Sea has various symbols attached to it; Faith, Obedience, Baptism.
By Listening to God's Word, Having Faith In His Only Begotten Son Jesus Christ, we are washed clean of our sins. After repentance from our sins we are Baptized in Water and In God's Holy Spirit, and then we are Born Again. Freedom awaits! 

On Exodus 14 we see how Pharaoh's armies (The devil and sin) are drowned and no longer have any power over God's Chosen People. They are set free.
Today we can have this same victory over the devil and sin. By Accepting Jesus Christ's Sacrifice for our sins, we may have True Freedom

There is another symbol of Baptism that is parallel to the one we have just seen

Joshua 3

3 And Joshua rose early in the morning; and they removed from Shittim, and came to Jordan, he and all the children of Israel, and lodged there before they passed over.
2 And it came to pass after three days, that the officers went through the host;
3 And they commanded the people, saying, When ye see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, and the priests the Levites bearing it, then ye shall remove from your place, and go after it.
4 Yet there shall be a space between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure: come not near unto it, that ye may know the way by which ye must go: for ye have not passed this way heretofore.
5 And Joshua said unto the people, Sanctify yourselves: for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.
6 And Joshua spake unto the priests, saying, Take up the ark of the covenant, and pass over before the people. And they took up the ark of the covenant, and went before the people.
7 And the Lord said unto Joshua, This day will I begin to magnify thee in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that, as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee.
8 And thou shalt command the priests that bear the ark of the covenant, saying, When ye are come to the brink of the water of Jordan, ye shall stand still in Jordan.
9 And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, Come hither, and hear the words of the Lord your God.
10 And Joshua said, Hereby ye shall know that the living God is among you, and that he will without fail drive out from before you the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Hivites, and the Perizzites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Jebusites.
11 Behold, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth passeth over before you into Jordan.
12 Now therefore take you twelve men out of the tribes of Israel, out of every tribe a man.
13 And it shall come to pass, as soon as the soles of the feet of the priests that bear the ark of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of Jordan, that the waters of Jordan shall be cut off from the waters that come down from above; and they shall stand upon an heap.
14 And it came to pass, when the people removed from their tents, to pass over Jordan, and the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people;
15 And as they that bare the ark were come unto Jordan, and the feet of the priests that bare the ark were dipped in the brim of the water, (for Jordan overfloweth all his banks all the time of harvest,)
16 That the waters which came down from above stood and rose up upon an heap very far from the city Adam, that is beside Zaretan: and those that came down toward the sea of the plain, even the salt sea, failed, and were cut off: and the people passed over right against Jericho.
17 And the priests that bare the ark of the covenant of the Lord stood firm on dry ground in the midst of Jordan, and all the Israelites passed over on dry ground, until all the people were passed clean over Jordan.

 Here we see another "Ark" passing safely through the waters of The Jordan River. This Ark Contains God's 10 Commandments. The priests that bare The Ark Of The Covenant represent those who keep God's Commandments.
Joshua says, "Hereby ye shall know that the living God is among you, and that he will without fail drive out from before you the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Hivites, and the Perizzites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Jebusites. the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Hivites, the Perizzites, the Girgashites, the Amorites, and the Jebusites represent the devil and different sins.
  
After passing through the water God's Chosen People take the city of Jericho
This can be seen as Victory after crossing the water or Victory after being Baptized with water and God's Holy Spirit! 
We may see God's Numerology again right before taking the city of Jericho.

Joshua 6:1-4

1 Now Jericho was straitly shut up because of the children of Israel: none went out, and none came in.
2 And the LORD said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valor.
3 And ye shall compass the city, all ye men of war, and go round about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days.
4 And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets of rams' horns: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets.

The example of Jericho is a wonderful spiritual lesson for God’s people yet today. There are times when we find ourselves facing enormous “Walls” that are impossible to break down by human strength. If we put our faith in God and follow His Commandments, even if they seem foolish to us, He will perform Great and Awesome deeds and give us The Victory.


Deuteronomy 4:29-31

29 But if from thence thou shalt seek the Lord thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.
30 When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, even in the latter days, if thou turn to the Lord thy God, and shalt be obedient unto his voice;
31 (For the Lord thy God is a merciful God;) he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them.

   
There is another figure of Baptism by the Water and By God's Holy Spirit right after the first metaphorical Baptism takes place. Interestingly, this figure also takes place in The Jordan River, by Jericho.

2 Kings 2:1-15

2 And it came to pass, when the Lord would take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.
2 And Elijah said unto Elisha, Tarry here, I pray thee; for the Lord hath sent me to Bethel. And Elisha said unto him, As the Lord liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they went down to Bethel.
3 And the sons of the prophets that were at Bethel came forth to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Lord will take away thy master from thy head to day? And he said, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.
4 And Elijah said unto him, Elisha, tarry here, I pray thee; for the Lord hath sent me to Jericho. And he said, As the Lord liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they came to Jericho.
5 And the sons of the prophets that were at Jericho came to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Lord will take away thy master from thy head to day? And he answered, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.
6 And Elijah said unto him, Tarry, I pray thee, here; for the Lord hath sent me to Jordan. And he said, As the Lord liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. And they two went on.
7 And fifty men of the sons of the prophets went, and stood to view afar off: and they two stood by Jordan.
8 And Elijah took his mantle, and wrapped it together, and smote the waters, and they were divided hither and thither, so that they two went over on dry ground.
9 And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.
10 And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so.
11 And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.
12 And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces.
13 He took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of Jordan;
14 And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where is the Lord God of Elijah? and when he also had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went over.
15 And when the sons of the prophets which were to view at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.
  


Here we see God's Prophet Elisha receiving A Double Portion Of God's Holy Spirit after crossing The Jordan River. This represents The Baptism Of God's Holy Spirit After Baptism by the Water.

Finally, i would like to show you my favorite Bible Figure of Baptism, in which we may also see God's Number 7 and it also takes place in The Jordan River. The next Bible Passage also confirms The Doctrine Of Faith, Obedience and Baptism that we have been studying.

 
2 Kings 5:1-17

5 Now Naaman, captain of the host of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master, and honourable, because by him the Lord had given deliverance unto Syria: he was also a mighty man in valour, but he was a leper.
2 And the Syrians had gone out by companies, and had brought away captive out of the land of Israel a little maid; and she waited on Naaman's wife.
3 And she said unto her mistress, Would my lord were with the prophet that is in Samaria! for he would recover him of his leprosy.
4 And one went in, and told his lord, saying, Thus and thus said the maid that is of the land of Israel.
5 And the king of Syria said, Go to, go, and I will send a letter unto the king of Israel. And he departed, and took with him ten talents of silver, and six thousand pieces of gold, and ten changes of raiment.
6 And he brought the letter to the king of Israel, saying, Now when this letter is come unto thee, behold, I have therewith sent Naaman my servant to thee, that thou mayest recover him of his leprosy.
7 And it came to pass, when the king of Israel had read the letter, that he rent his clothes, and said, Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this man doth send unto me to recover a man of his leprosy? wherefore consider, I pray you, and see how he seeketh a quarrel against me.
8 And it was so, when Elisha the man of God had heard that the king of Israel had rent his clothes, that he sent to the king, saying, Wherefore hast thou rent thy clothes? let him come now to me, and he shall know that there is a prophet in Israel.
9 So Naaman came with his horses and with his chariot, and stood at the door of the house of Elisha.
10 And Elisha sent a messenger unto him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times, and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean.
11 But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the Lord his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper.
12 Are not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? may I not wash in them, and be clean? So he turned and went away in a rage.
13 And his servants came near, and spake unto him, and said, My father, if the prophet had bid thee do some great thing, wouldest thou not have done it? how much rather then, when he saith to thee, Wash, and be clean?
14 Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.
15 And he returned to the man of God, he and all his company, and came, and stood before him: and he said, Behold, now I know that there is no God in all the earth, but in Israel: now therefore, I pray thee, take a blessing of thy servant.
16 But he said, As the Lord liveth, before whom I stand, I will receive none. And he urged him to take it; but he refused.
17 And Naaman said, Shall there not then, I pray thee, be given to thy servant two mules' burden of earth? for thy servant will henceforth offer neither burnt offering nor sacrifice unto other gods, but unto the Lord.


Naaman was a mighty general who worked for a Syrian King. The Bible says he was an honorable brave man. His exploits in battle gave him a reputation and everybody in town knew him, but there was something peculiar about him; he was a leper.  
Sin is compared to Leprosy In The Bible. Sin separates us from God, sin separates us from each other, and it also separates us from ourselves. When we give our hearts to The Lord, we Love God, we love our neighbor and we love ourselves. Sin does the opposite; it's like a disease.


 The Bible tells us that the Syrians had gone out on a raid, and they captured a young Israelite girl who became the slave of Naaman. Instead of being angry, she decided to be a good servant (Perhaps she had read The Story Of Joseph) and told Naaman's wife there was a Prophet Of God who could heal him of his Leprosy
Naaman then made his way to The Prophet Of God, Elisha, who, inspired by God's Holy Spirit, gave Naaman a Commandment through a messenger who was Elisha's servant; To wash in the Jordan river 7 times. (Jesus Christ Often Sends messengers instead of speaking to us directly)
 Naaman was initially raged and was not willing to Keep The Commandment given to him. First he had to listen to the message of a little salve girl, then he was turned away by the king of Israel, then he wasn't even greeted by Elisha but by one of his servants instead whom commanded to "Go Wash" which was more than he could stand.

Naaman was then convinced by one of his servants to just do it. 
Naaman first received a message from the little slave girl, then a message from Elisha's servant, and finally a message from one of his own servants.  
Sometimes it isn't just one message that reaches us, but a series of things that happen during the course of our lives. I myself am a servant of God, and i am also sharing His Word with you and you are receiving these messages.  
After keeping The Commandment given to him, Naaman was cleansed of his leprosy
The cleansing Naaman received symbolizes the cleansing of sin that we receive.
This is what Obedience In God's Word Does.

 If Naaman would have not kept The Commandment given to him, he would have never known what it was like to be free of his curse. In the same way, we don't really ever know what it's like to be free, unless we listen To God's Commandments.
After Naaman was cleansed, he said, "Behold, now I know that there is no God in all the earth, but in Israel

Through a Personal Relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ we come to say exactly the same!

***Bonus***
There is an important Lesson that we may learn from God's Commandments based on the Numerology that we've been studying. 
When God said to Joshua ,"And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets of rams' horns: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets." God Meant Exactly What He Commanded. 
The Great Walls of Jericho did not fall on the sixth day and they did not fall after compassing the city five or six times; Jericho's Great Walls fell after God's Commandments were kept to The Letter.
When Naaman was given the Commandment to wash 7 times in The Jordan, he was not cleansed after five or six times, but after Seven times.


In this same manner, God Has Commanded us to Keep The Seventh Day of the week Holy, for in six days He Made heaven and the earth and on The 7th Day He Rested and Blessed It. The Sabbath (Saturday) day is a perpetual sign between Him and His Children. 
This is very important, many people today keep sunday (The first day of the week) as The Sabbath, but God Is Very Specific. It is The Seventh Day that is Blessed by Him, not the first or the second, but The Seventh, which is Saturday

One of the reasons this is very important is because there are Free Blessings From God that we get On The Sabbath (The Seventh Day) 
 We must be Obedient and Do What God Says.

Matthew 5:20

20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

To Conclude
Let's keep in Mind Jesus Christ's Last Words Before Going Back To God The Father.

Matthew 28:18-20

18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.


The last thing that Jesus Said before He Ascended to Heaven should be a Priority To God's Children
Some people say that Baptism is a trivial doctrine, but It Is So Important that It is Given As A Commandment By Jesus Christ right before Going Back To God The Father. 
"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them" In other words, encourage people to commit their lives to Jesus that He might fill them with The Holy Spirit, that they might serve Him
 Jesus Christ Started His Ministry after Baptism. 


Baptism Marks A Starting Point, it means we surrender ourselves to The Lord And Allow Him to fill us With His Spirit. We are Filled With The Holy Spirit To Serve God. 
This is more Exciting than we might initially think ;)

Being Taught about Jesus Christ should come before Baptism


Acts 8:26-40

26 And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.
27 And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship,
28 Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet.
29 Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.
30 And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Isaiah, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?
31 And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.
32 The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:
33 In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.
34 And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?
35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.
36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?
37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
39 And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.
 

Many people get baptized without being taught first. They're not really quite sure what it means and this could have robbed them of The Blessings.  
I was baptized when i was a baby, but there are no examples of babies being baptized in God's Word. Baptism should be a choice we make, we all have a free will, we must repent, we must believe. A baby cannot do these things. 
Fortunately for me i went through a very rough personal crisis and throughout this tribulation i Baptized myself in an act of desperation.  
From this moment on my life started changing and even though i didn't know what i know today (I poured a cup of water on myself the first time) my Lord Jesus Christ Blessed This Act Of Faith. 
Months later, after i had learned more of God's Word In Depth, i decided to get Re-Baptized by Submersion and i have been working For The Lord Harder than ever before, from that point on.

Truly Repenting of past sins. (Must stop dating the devil before Marrying Jesus. This does not mean we won't be tempted by the devil.)


If you did not meet these at the time of your Baptism, you may want to consider getting Re-Baptized. God Will Reward you for it, like He Did for me ^____^
