Hello Friends! The following Bible Treasure is an aid for understanding God's 10 Commandments, which can be found on Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5.
God's Commandments are summed up in One Word: LOVE.

 1 John 5: 1-3

5 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.
By this we know that we love the children of Godwhen we love God, and keep his commandments.
3 For this is the
love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

If you're currently wondering whether God's Moral Law (The 10 Commandments) should be Kept or not, i invite you to read:

Should Christians Keep God's Commandments?

Matthew 5:17-20

17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

BIBLE 7 TREASURE

We're going to study each one of God's 10 Commandments separately, but first i would like to tell you that keeping God's Commandments is one of the most amazing blessings we can partake in while we're on this planet.

Revelation 22:14

14
Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

Obedience To God carries amazing benefits on this life and the next! :D
God's Commandments are all summed up in one word: LOVE
God is LOVE.
Our Lord Jesus Christ Says:

John 14:15-16

15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

Matthew 22: 35-40

35 Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,
36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Did you know?

God's 10 Commandments are divided into two parts.
The first 4 Commandments are Kept If we Love God
The last 6 Commandments are Kept If we Love our neighbor as we love ourselves.
This is why our Lord Jesus Christ Says on Matthew 22, "On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets." (Loving God, and Loving our neighbor)
Let's take a quick look at God's 10 Commandments and then we'll take a look at each of them separately.

The 10 Commandments
 Deuteronomy 5:6-21

1.“I am the LORD your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. You shall have no other gods before Me.
2.You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
3.You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.
4.Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy, as the LORD your God commanded you. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your ox, nor your donkey, nor any of your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates, that your male servant and your female servant may rest as well as you. And remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the LORD your God brought you out from there by a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm; therefore the LORD your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day.
5.Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, that your days may be long, and that it may be well with you in the land which the LORD your God is giving you.
6.You shall not murder.
7.You shall not commit adultery.
8.You shall not steal.
9.You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
10.You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife; and you shall not desire your neighbor’s house, his field, his male servant, his female servant, his ox, his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor’s.

By examining God's Commandments, we may see that they're not a burden, and are in fact Love.
Let's take a look at the first 4 Commandments, which deal with our Love To God.

1.“I am the LORD your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. You shall have no other gods before Me.

Life comes from Life.
No one on planet earth has ever seen life come out of nothing; it is an observable fact that life must come from life.
Truth Is Absolute. God Is Love.
We may come to know God through the creation itself.
This World is truly amazing to behold, and there are signs of LOVE all over the place. This world contains;

  •  An Amazingly incredible variety of Delicious Fruits made for us, each with a different texture, color, flavor, etc. All fruits have different vitamins inside them that promote good health. (There are estimated to be about 7500 types of apples and 1600 types of bananas alone. To put that in perspective, if you ate a new type of apple each day, it would take you a little over twenty years to try them all. For the bananas, it's a little over four years)
    • The oceans in which we may sail, swim, scuba-dive, jet-ski, etc. Lakes, Rivers.
    • The happiness and Love we see in a baby's face.
    • Our pets, and the feelings of happiness they produce in our hearts.
    • The Pleasures we can experience: Relaxation, Laughter, Orgasms, etc.
    • The rainbow.
    • The Incredible variety of Beautiful Flowers, each with its own distinct smell, color, texture, etc. There are over 400,000 different types of flowering plants.
    • The Gentle Breeze which caresses our bodies.
    • The Sprinkles of Rain.
    • Our bodies which are composed of trillions of cells (Each cell with a specific purpose and intricate task) etc.
    • Millions of different animals.

God's Love can truly be seen in His creation.
By having no other gods before God, we are making The True Living God our God, and from the evidence of His creation, we may see He Wants The Best for us.
    God Is Love.
If we were to have other gods, we would not have the Real God Who Created all forms of Life, in our hearts, and therefore we would be separated from our most important need: God's Love.
By looking at The First Commandment and breaking it down, we may see that God Wants The Best for us.

Truly, we are blessed if our God Is The One True God: Love.

    Psalm 84:12

12 O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.

Idolatry has been a sin that has destroyed various civilizations throughout human history. Some ancient civilizations have made idols out of the sun, the moon, the stars, etc. (These civilizations are no longer with us)
Idolatry separates us from knowing The True God.

It is important to take a moment to auto analyze ourselves, as there are many ways a person could fall into idolatry without even knowing.
In today's world it is easy to make an idol out of many different things, some examples may include: amulets, statues, saints, even people are worshiped in today's world (This act is also encouraged in television programs, like: "American Idol")
In my country of origin (Colombia) Soccer is worshiped. People hate each other, yell at each other, beat each other, and are sometimes murdered over a soccer game here in Colombia. This is a form of idolatry.
In most cases, people unconsciously worship these soccer teams.
I have never heard anyone say, "Hey, let's go worship this team"
However, when a team makes a goal, people scream with all their might, all their strength, all their happiness and all their soul; This is in some ways, an act of worship.

God's Word Tells us that God Is The Father, The Son (Jesus Christ) And The Holy Spirit.
Anyone or anything that isn't God and is being worshiped is an idol.
Idolatry is a very dangerous sin because it separates us from knowing The One True God. God Is Love, who could say no to Love?

    Revelation 22:8-9

8 And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things.
9 Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.

3.You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.

I can say from personal experience that Honoring God is absolutely great
When we Honor God, God Honors us, and the way in which He Honors us is by Showering Blessings upon us.
It is very important to take His Name with Respect and Love, this is what "Fearing The Lord" means.

There is a lot of confusion regarding This Commandment in the world today. Many people keep "Sunday" as God's Sabbath
But, did you know Sunday isn't the seventh day of the week?
The Truth is that Saturday is the seventh day of the week, and it is also the Sabbath.
Back on March 7, in the year 321 Emperor Constantine decreed sunday as a day of worship, "The day of the sun"
Throughout the passing of time God's 4th Commandment was changed by men from Saturday to Sunday, similarly to what Emperor Constantine did back in the year 321. Since these times, people have been keeping Sunday following a tradition which was set by men, and never Commanded By God.
Every single one of God's Commandments is extremely important. This Commandment in particular is a perpetual sign that we are His children.

I started to receive all sorts of blessings ever since i started keeping The Sabbath day Holy. Blessings that maybe i would have never experienced otherwise.
I have received knowledge that i should not be able to comprehend with my level of education, my health is also absolutely excellent (Before i started keeping God's Sabbath Day, i would be constantly sick) One time in particular, i remember as A Sabbath day was coming to an end, i started feeling like I started feeling the symptoms of a cold creeping in; right at this time, i felt lightning run through my spine and the symptoms disappeared. Ever since that day my body rejects any type of cold in the same way. I instantly knew this was a Gift Of God.
I also have another Gift that has been increasing more and more. I feel a flame run through my veins, it is extremely energetic and it keeps getting stronger as time goes by.
These are some of the things I've been experiencing, and i hope you experience God's Incredible Blessings that can be experienced through Obedience as well.
God Is Love! and This Commandment Is no different than the Other Commandments. Remember God's Commandments are all summed up in one Word: Love.

For more information regarding God's Sabbath Day, I invite you to read:
What day is The Sabbath? Should Christians Keep it Holy?

The last 6 Commandments are kept if we Love our Neighbor as we love ourselves. Let's look at these last 6 Commandments as if they were a mirror.
Let's take a moment to look within ourselves and see if we are failing to Love

    Why is this auto-analysis convenient?

    Our Lord Jesus Christ says:

    John 8:34

34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.

We may auto-analyze ourselves and see if we are committing sins like, "Envy" "Hatred" "Vanity" "Greed" etc.

There was a time in my life, in which i was a very vain man. I would not commit vanity once a month. I would be vain many times throughout the month, the week, even the day.
To get to this point i had to initially commit one simple act of vanity, and then another, and another, until this became part of my personality. What is very interesting is the fact that i was not aware of my vanity.
This is usually what happens with sin.
We are not always aware that we are committing a sin and we enslave ourselves and suffer unnecessarily as a result.
This is why it is important to auto-analyze ourselves and change these negative behaviors. Remember God's Commandments are LOVE! :D

5.Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, that your days may be long, and that it may be well with you in the land which the LORD your God is giving you.

This Commandment is very interesting as it describes a specific blessing that comes with Keeping It.

Did you know the nation of Japan is the nation in which we may find the largest amount of senior citizens in the world? They have the longest living population in the world.
This nation is different from all of the other nations in the world in one aspect; They honor their father and mother like no other nation in the world
In this country we may see the Blessings of the 5th Commandment. We may see Japanese people well over 100 years old who look and are healthier than people who are 70 years old in other countries.

This is 105-year-old Hidekichi Miyazaki imitating sprinter Usain Bolt after finishing a 100 meter race in Kyoto :3

Misao Okawa, eats her birthday cake on her 116th birthday celebration at Kurenai Nursing Home

Jiroemon Kimura Celebrates his 116th Birthday

Something interesting is the fact that Japan is mostly a pagan country. The majority of Japan's citizens don't know God, and they don't know His Commandments.
Without knowing, they are keeping God's 5th Commandment better than every other country in this planet, and they're receiving The Blessing that comes with Keeping This Commandment better than every other country in this world, simply because Japanese citizens honor their father and mother better than any other nation does.
    Why is this possible?
God's Law (The 10 Commandments) is similar to the law of gravity.
It does not matter whether we are familiar with the law of gravity or not, it still applies to us. However, the knowledge of the law of gravity is a great blessing.
We all know we should never jump out of a second floor, because we could be badly injured. This knowledge (Wisdom) of the law of gravity is a blessing that protects our physical bodies while we live on this planet.
God's Law is similar to this. Our Lord Jesus Christ's Apostles call God's Law, "The Law Of Liberty" because it is summed up in Love, and In Love there are no chains.
God Is Love, Love is Truth, and Truth Sets us free.

***Keeping God's Law isn't a requirement for us to be saved. We are saved by The Grace Of God. However, it is because we have been saved from the devil's snares and now have God's Love in our hearts, that we Keep His Commandments.
In essence, Keeping God's Commandments isn't a requirement to salvation, but it is a sign that we have been saved; It is a fruit. Remember that those who Believe In Jesus are called to walk as He Did***

Truly God's Commandments are Love and Love is always beneficial to every single human being on this planet. Let's not miss out! ;)

    6.You shall not murder.

This Commandment does not need much of an explanation, however there is more to this Commandment. Our Lord Jesus Christ Says:

    Matthew 5:21-22

21 Ye have heard that it was said of them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:
22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment

It is very important to avoid being angry with anyone without a cause.
Remember sin starts in the heart, and anger without a cause can be the type of spark that may cause someone to murder another
It is very important to avoid any type of anger without a cause.

    7.You shall not commit adultery.

Adultery is having sex with someone other than your spouse, and we are Commanded to love our spouse as if she/he were a part of our own body. However, there is more to this Commandment as well
    Our Lord Jesus Christ Says:

     Matthew 5:27-28

27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

    Sin starts in the heart
Did you know that our Subconscious mind is much faster than our  Conscious mind? The Subconscious mind is capable of absorbing hundreds of images per second. This is something we are not consciously aware of. However, through our every day conscious actions our subconscious mind is processing information so fast that it creates different tendencies which affect our future conscious actions.
What this means is that every single choice we make will shape us, either positively or negatively. This is a continual process that does not end until we are dead. (This is also an insight into our spirits. Every choice shapes our spiritual being, either for good or for evil)

For those who have a spouse or a boyfriend or girlfriend: It is extremely important never to look anyone other than your spouse to lust after.
If we have a spouse or girlfriend or boyfriend, we can say we have a "Honey Pot"
If we look at other Honey Pots, there is a process that takes place which we are not consciously aware of. Our subconscious mind is still working at an extremely rapid speed, and without realizing it, our subconscious gradually creates dissatisfaction.
The Honey Pot we have gradually loses its sweetness and with the passing of time we may find ourselves to be dissatisfied with the honey that we have.
Our spouse/boyfriend/girlfriend eventually suffer and we also suffer, because we don't enjoy our personal relationships with them the way our Lord Jesus Christ Wants us to to enjoy them.

Our Lord Jesus Christ Says that whosoever looks at a woman to lust after her, commits adultery in their heart, to protect us.
This Commandment is also Love, and i can assure you that if we keep This Commandment, our Honey Pots will never lose their sweetness! :D

Today, 80% of marriages unfortunately end up in divorce. I believe the reason for this is sin. We enslave ourselves like Jesus Christ Said we would if we commit sin, and we end up paying the consequences.
Every action has a reaction, and a negative action like sin has a negative reaction as a result.
This is why it's important to look at God's Commandments, because they are Love, and Love is Always The Best of everything.

    8.You shall not steal.

Here we may see how God's Commandments truly are A Law Of Liberty.
A thief, for instance, is a spiritual prisoner of things that don't belong to him/her, and if a thief is caught in the act of stealing he/she may also end up becoming a physical prisoner.
Truly God's Law Keeps us Free.

9.You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

Lying should always be avoided, and every bad word as well.
    Our Lord Jesus Christ Says:

    Matthew 15:11

11 Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.

Our Lord Jesus Christ later Says:

    Matthew 15:16-19

16 And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding?
17 Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?
18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.
19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:

It is important to avoid words which are not truthful, or words of envy, or strife or any sort of negativeness. Remember that whatever we do unto others will be done unto us.

This is why it's important to never bear false witness, or to insult one another, or anything of this sort. Not only do we hurt our neighbor by committing these sins, but we also hurt ourselves in the long run.
Some religions call this, "Karma" This is the belief that whoever does good receives good in return and whoever does evil receives evil in return.
God's Word Spoke about this before the term "Karma"was created. God's Word Says:

    Jeremiah 17:10

10 I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

10.You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife; and you shall not desire your neighbor’s house, his field, his male servant, his female servant, his ox, his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor’s.

The last of God's Commandments says we should not desire anything that belongs to our neighbor. This is also Love, and it is Wise.

    John 3:27

27 John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven.

According to God's Word, we have that which was given to us. Our neighbor also has that which was given to him/her. If we desire something that belongs to our neighbor for ourselves, in reality we're desiring to take something that was given By God.
We should always be content with everything we already have.

    1 Timothy 6:6-11

6 But godliness with contentment is great gain
7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

Remember that whenever we Love our Neighbor, we are also Loving The Lord.

    Matthew 25:40

40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

These are God's Commandments, To Love Him and To Love our neighbor as ourselves.
I can say from experience that ever since I started keeping God's Commandments, my spirit has been transforming and I am a completely different person today than I was before I made the choice To Love. Today, I feel an inner peace I had never thought was possible to experience, and I'm still constantly changing for the better, one day at a time :D

Are you ready to walk in Love?
God's Word Never Fails, Love Is Eternal.

    Psalm 111

111 Praise ye the Lord. I will praise the Lord with my whole heart, in the assembly of the upright, and in the congregation.
2 The works of the Lord are great, sought out of all them that have pleasure therein.
3 His work is honourable and glorious: and his righteousness endureth for ever.
4 He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered: the Lord is gracious and full of compassion.
5 He hath given meat unto them that fear him: he will ever be mindful of his covenant.
6 He hath shewed his people the power of his works, that he may give them the heritage of the heathen.
7 The works of his hands are verity and judgment; all his commandments are sure.
8 They stand fast for ever and ever, and are done in truth and uprightness.
9 He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and reverend is his name.
10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.
